Before it was shamelessly copied by Sigmund Fraud, the Great Philosopher Plato had the notion of a tripartite soul:
The Appetitive soul: This is the one which all of the crazy people cannot seem to get over. Better known as the Id, this part of one's self is focused on... base functions. Those who embrace this are intemperate. I was never a part of those people... A society based on this is a nation of filthy pigs.
The Spirited soul: Known as the ego, this part of oneself is concerned with appearing to be good without necessarily being good. It is the love of honor, or at least, honorable appearance which drives the people who elevate this part of their soul to its primacy. When I was an atheist, I was concerned about APPEARING good without actually making any effort to actually BE good; so much so, that I LIED to people to make myself appear more intelligent than I actually was. That's right; love of honor made me lie to people. I sinned. I admit it. Fully. A state based on love of honor is likely to be a military one. Since such a state is based on the APPEARANCE and PRESUMPTION of honor and not necessarily honor itself, it will be full of pretensions and lies. Where have we seen this before? This is known as the Ego.
The Rational soul: The highest part of a human being and the most important for a civilized life, the rational soul is our conscience, logic, reason, and guide to what is the RIGHT thing, not simply the easy thing. I know it sounds stupid, but I actually admire the arts I selected under my favorites for their aesthetics, not any lewdness; if I wanted that (lewdness), I'd go to a far, far worse website. Anyway, a state based on love of wisdom is a happy land, full of reason and morality, and free from "King wrath" and "Queen hysteria." The rational soul is the only way to happiness; it will not be found in any person, place or thing in the world around oneself. This is also known as the Superego.
And YES, if I were any more religious, I would be preaching to you outright. As it is, I have NOT mentioned the Bible once, just morality. And yes, I am effectively pro-life. At least I'm not for giving big business control over the government, environment and the healthcare system... damn plutocrats...
Devious Comments
I'm more of a YTMND man... there, you can criticize immoral people, and generally not be criticized by them!
I actually read your arguements over the hanger stamp and I have to applaud you on your knowledge of history, your ability to dissect the logic of their answers and the pure honesty of the remarks.
I wish there were more people out there like you because you can tear away the lies and reveal the truth. Kinda like C.S.Lewis did in Mere Christianity.
So thanks, ironic that the artist left your comments up for others to read, in a way I'm glad she did because perhaps more young women will read through them and perhaps rethink the agenda that certain movements have.
Regarding abortion, I don't think there is any rational excuse for it. I am a woman, I will one day have children (God allowing it), but I'm not afraid. It seems like the pro choice movement runs on fear, fear of death. If by dying I bring a life into this world I know that God will provide for him/her. I'm happily married with a man who will be a wonderful father to my children, and I guess I have faith that I'm not afraid of death if it happens that way. (Through Childbirth).
Do I think a guy has a right to have a say Damn right he has a right. It takes TWO to make a baby, and it's technically half his. That's what the bible means by "the two shall become one flesh" biologically speaking that child has half of it's father's DNA in it. So this crap about a guy not having any say or that he has no RIGHT to say is bullshit. A father has ALL the right if speaking in the terms of "equal opportunity" he should have equal rights as the mother in what happens to the baby. I know two cases from my personal experience where young men were traumatised because their children were aborted and they had no idea the g/f was pregnant until after she had the foetus terminated. Fathers should have a say, at least they should be aware of their rights too. Thankfully father's for justice is trying to make the public more aware of the injustices men face because of these "extreme feminists".
I admit I do believe that the feminist movement has done some good, and it did start out with noble intentions. But like all good ideas it gets corrupted and people/groups with their own agendas inflitrate the group and cause trouble for the rest of the decent feminists out there. Who aren't bra burning anti Christian male haters who derive their dogma from wicca and god knows what else in order not to suppress men totally but definately to thrash the only real threat to the source of their beliefs.
Christianity.
Yeah I said it.
But seriously, the more I look around DA and read up on these groups their main enemy is their main threat. As C.S.Lewis states in Mere Christanity they are blitzing Christianity because it challenges their beliefs to the core.
So I applaud you. I encourage you to keep standing strong, and I shall continue to watch you.

"You can't always tell one from another.
And it's best not to judge a book by it tattered cover.
I have found when I tried or looked deeper inside.
What appears unadorned might be wondrously formed.
You can't always tell but sometimes you just know."
Just a Christian, I know that God loves me that God sent his Son to die for me. I know that there is nothing I can DO to get right with God, because everything is already His. I couldn't earn my salvation even if I tried really hard, I am already cursed by Adam, but praise God I have life through Christ.
I am just like the libertines, I am capable of being one of them because I am human. Thankfully it is only by the grace of God and the power of his Holy Spirit who teaches me and instructs me that I am a changed person. Please do not judge them for you may fall into a trap of Pride that leads to all sorts of trouble. Pray for them. Pray that somewhere the Holy Spirit may work in their hearts to help them find the truth. And for those who suffer from guilt from what they had done (abortions etc) pray for healing.
Only the Holy Spirit can fix people but He can only do that if they want fixing in the first place.
