2001 Opening Shot

Obviously, I based this off of the opening of 2001: A Space Odyssey. While it is highly regarded, I found it to be horribly boring, slow-paced, and pretentious. It's one of those movies which, if released for the first time today, would likely get critically panned. Nevertheless, it has influenced many other "serious" and "dark" science-fiction movies, such as Interstellar. You could easily tell the movie's story in half an hour and it would be just as good. Well, maybe 45 minutes.

Anyway, this one came out well, but it looks better from a distance. Up-close, one can see little faults and imperfections, such as the scarcity of craters on the moon. Those things are a pain to draw. And yes, while the sun and moon are original, the planet is a prop used from the spacescape picture. I might just redo that part. As you can tell, I have been attempting to remove reused media from my gallery. I still have about 55-60 pieces to delete.

In the future, I want to animate a star again. I plan on using layers as frames in order to show the changes in the "bubbling" stellar surface. To show fluctuations in the surface. If all goes well, I could have a lot of layers. Luckily for me, one of my watchers works for NASA. He might give some good advice (please? ) Not saying who it is, though. We can talk about it in notes, I guess.

Note, I might shrink the sun. It is a bit too big relative to the sun in the actual intro.
